We all know that there is no specific educational route into becoming a Sales Development Representative. That doesn\u2019t mean that just anyone can do it though. It requires life skills, soft skills, some things self-learnt and some things taught. Above all else though, having a belief in yourself and a desire to get the job done, even when it seems like the world is against you, is essential. This is the character and inner confidence we look for. Of course, our SDRs all have these qualities in abundance but despite the common traits, they are all individuals, and they all found their own route here. That\u2019s why we thought now was the time to gain a greater insight into some of our brightest stars.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this instance, we asked Jochem to share his story with us.<\/p>\n\n\n

Professional Philosophy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m a competitive guy and I like to challenge myself to get the best results for my clients.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

My early life was just like everybody else. I went to school and played with my friends, with no thought for working life until middle school. It\u2019s then that you get a better perspective on what you want your future to look like. While I wasn\u2019t screaming out to be an SDR at that point; I didn\u2019t know that\u2019s where I was heading. What I did know though was that if I wanted to be a success in business, I would at least need some recognised qualifications behind me to give me the credibility that would set me on the right path. With this in mind, I took a course in Commercial Economics and started working for the global logistics company DHL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I then moved into IT recruitment at a different company but was unsatisfied with their lack of structure. I was then introduced to Aexus by a friend who already worked there. I was excited by this opportunity as he was able tell me what it was like to work there and I looked forward to the challenge. We had actually been colleagues before, so he was able to vouch for my work ethic and character before I even had a first interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My motivation was inspired by the fact that there is a clear path to progression. This is a huge motivator for me and makes me want to achieve more, not just for my own personal satisfaction but also for the company and my clients. As you can imagine, I was looking forward to the challenge. I\u2019ve been here for long enough to know that I relish the things I face every day. I have to be at the top of my game every day and be an analytical thinker with a creative mindset. This is what gets me up in the morning and I already can\u2019t wait for tomorrow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
